Introduction¶
In a DSH session, logs are append-only and messages cannot be modified in place. When you realize that you sent an incorrect context or need to adjust the wording of the previous turn, the usual workaround is to regenerate the context, which consumes a lot of compute and disrupts the original record.
The dsh-reedit plugin introduced below lets you double-click your own message to rewrite it and resend it in a new branch. The original conversation remains unchanged.
Plugin Overview¶
dsh-reedit is a client-side plugin maintained by Arbeiter-bit. It implements editing and resending user messages by intercepting and rerendering the DOM.
Core Features¶
- Hover tooltip: Hovering the mouse over your own message displays action hints.
- Double-click to edit: After double-clicking a message, the editor is automatically prefilled with the message’s content.
- Session branching: After you confirm sending, the plugin creates a new session branch before the original message. This branch does not include the original message or any content after it.
- Resending content: The edited text is sent into this new branch.
- Main panel display: The new branch opens in the main panel, making it convenient to continue interacting.
- Exit editing: Clicking outside the editor exits edit mode without saving changes.
- Visual marking: User messages have a light blue bubble attached to them, preventing them from being mistaken for assistant replies.
Installation and Activation¶
Add the plugin to your configuration file by using the official install command:
dsh plugin --profile <profile> add github:Arbeiter-bit/dsh-reedit
Notes¶
- Color limitation: The blue bubble uses hex color
#2563ebwith 12% opacity. Because the theme does not provide a corresponding blue alias token, the appearance of this color may vary slightly across different themes. - Reimplementation: The action bar is reimplemented by the plugin; the file cards and spacing are hand-written, so there may be minor differences from the host UI.
- No in-place modification: Because session logs are append-only, the plugin cannot modify the message itself. Instead, it creates a branch to achieve a “rewrite” effect.
- Dependency fallback: When reading
@deepseek-ai/dsh-client-ui-primitives, the plugin uses try/catch. If the dependency is missing, the content degrades to plain text display.
Conclusion¶
dsh-reedit provides a low-cost way to modify historical context, making it suitable for scenarios that require fine-tuning instructions or correcting mistakes. You can refer to the links below for the plugin source code and catalog information.
