Introduction¶
DeepSeek Harness (DSH) uses a plugin-based architecture. When an agent invokes the web_search tool, the corresponding search backend must be configured. This plugin aims to eliminate that configuration cost. It reuses the login state of the WorkBuddy desktop App to connect the cloud agentic search capability to DSH’s web_search tool. Users do not need to apply for an API key, nor install other DSH plugins, to use search directly.
Core Features¶
This plugin achieves zero-configuration access by:
* Reusing login state: It directly uses the login state of the WorkBuddy desktop App, without requiring an additional API key.
* Cloud search: It calls WorkBuddy’s cloud agentic search service.
* Cited summaries: It returns summarization text with citation sources, making it easy to verify.
* No hard dependencies: It is a pure ESM module, has no build step, and works fully without relying on other DSH plugins.
* Security design: It treats credential files as read-only, refreshes tokens only in memory, and does not write them back to disk, avoiding conflicts with other plugins.
Installation and Activation¶
Before installing, ensure the following prerequisites are met:
* WorkBuddy desktop App is installed and logged in (domestic version or international version).
* Node.js version >= 20.
Run the following command to install:
dsh plugin --profile web add dsh-workbuddy-websearch
After installation, restart DSH to make it take effect. After restarting, when the model invokes web_search, it will automatically use WorkBuddy’s search interface.
Typical Usage¶
After installing and restarting DSH, no additional action is needed. Simply initiate a search request in the conversation:
dsh --profile web "帮我搜一下最近的 XX 进展"
After successful installation, you can verify whether the configuration is active with the following command:
dsh --profile web --dump-config | grep -i workbuddy-websearch
Applicable Scenarios and Notes¶
This plugin is mainly suitable for Windows/macOS developers who need to quickly integrate web search capabilities.
Functional Limitations¶
- Search only: This plugin provides only the
web_search(web search) function; it does not provide theweb_fetch(fetch a specified URL) function. - Platform limitations:
- Windows x64 (stable).
- macOS (experimental).
- Not supported: 32-bit Windows, Linux, WSL, HarmonyOS.
Plugin Conflicts¶
- Unique registration ID: Only one plugin can register for the same search provider id. This plugin registers the ID
workbuddy-agentic. If another plugin registered with the same ID (such as an older version or a fork) is installed at the same time, only one will be active, while the other will remain silently inactive.
Closing¶
By reusing existing resources from the WorkBuddy desktop App, this plugin provides DSH with web search capabilities that require no additional configuration. It is suitable for users who want to quickly add search functionality to their existing workflows.
