dsh-study-coach: DSH Study Coach Plugin

Introduction¶

DeepSeek Harness (DSH) supports extending capabilities through plugins. dsh-study-coach focuses on self-study scenarios. It breaks a course down into a knowledge map, records mastery level for each unit, schedules daily tasks, and provides a web dashboard where students can view their progress.

What It Is¶

This plugin is developed by Ame-Choo and provides two capabilities:

• Conversational capabilities: Provides 21 study_* tools and a “Study Coach” agent preset. These tools are visible only within the scope of “Study Coach” mode.
• Web dashboard: Mounted at the /study path on the DSH web server and contains eight pages.

The plugin repository contains only code, not study data. Data is stored locally by default.

Core Features¶

1. Knowledge map: Supports a three-level structure of categories, modules, and smallest units. The canvas supports dragging and zooming (Ctrl/Cmd + mouse wheel). Each unit has online courses and practice materials attached.
2. Mastery tracking: Supports six levels (never encountered, seen, can follow along, can do independently, consistently proficient, can explain clearly). Evidence must be attached (such as which self-assessment, which question, or which photo). Evidence is not a score; it is a traceable record.
3. Web dashboard: The path is /study. It includes Today’s Tasks, Knowledge Map, Material Graph, Profiles, Materials, Tools, and Conversations—eight pages in total. A health check card at the top of the dashboard indicates the current priority action.
4. Auxiliary tools: Daily task scheduling, a mistake book, and memory cards (Ebbinghaus).

Installation and Activation¶

The plugin is installed via npm.

pnpm add dsh-study-coach

Prerequisites:
* DSH >= 0.2.0-rc.1
* Node >= 22.13.0

After installation, DSH must be restarted for the changes to take effect.

Typical Usage¶

1. Start a session in “Study Coach” mode in DSH.
2. Specify what to learn, the required level of mastery, how many minutes you can study per day, and the latest deadline.
3. Provide the materials and say, “Read through it.” It will register them, read through them, and build the map.
4. Check the dashboard for what to do today, and tell the coach when you are finished.

Data and Maintenance¶

• Storage location: Stored by default in ~/.dsh/study-coach/.
• Environment variable: The data root directory can be changed by setting the DSH_STUDY_ROOT environment variable.
• Data independence: The data is independent of the code; uninstalling, upgrading, or reinstalling will not lose it.

Notes¶

• Scope: The tools are attached only to the scope of “Study Coach” mode and are not visible from other sessions.
• Dashboard access: Clicking “Open” in the dashboard returns 404 for items outside the registered materials and 410 for registered items that cannot be found on disk.
• Evidence requirement: Each judgment in the mastery profile must be supported by evidence.
