Introduction¶
DeepSeek Harness (DSH) uses a plugin-based architecture, designed to meet diverse development needs through extensibility. In the code development workflow, reviewing change history and code diffs is a common task. Traditional approaches often require switching to external tools or frequently hopping between different windows. The changestab plugin provides a change view directly in DSH’s Web interface, integrating change history with file browsing and reducing context-switching time.
Plugin Purpose¶
This is a plugin that provides a Changes sidebar view for DeepSeek Harness. It allows users to browse and manage code changes directly within DSH’s GUI environment. The plugin is maintained by the user americanjeff and is open-sourced under the MIT license.
Core Features¶
The plugin mainly provides the following capabilities:
- Sidebar Integration: Provides a dedicated Changes view sidebar in the DSH interface.
- Change History Navigation: Supports browsing the change history.
- Diff Viewing: Supports side-by-side or stacked viewing of file diffs based on available display width.
- Change Tree and File Browser: Provides a change tree for jj or git in the right sidebar, displayed alongside the built-in file browser to show the files involved in each change.
Installation and Activation¶
Installing this plugin requires the DeepSeek Harness CLI. Ensure DSH is installed and the environment variables are configured.
dsh plugin --profile web add changestab
The --profile web option must be specified during installation because the plugin is designed for the Web Profile that runs the GUI.
Usage¶
After installation, the new Changes sidebar is available in DSH’s Web GUI. This view is currently read-only.
- Supported Version Control Tools: The plugin supports displaying change history for both
jjandgit. - Diff Display: Click a specific file to view its diff. The interface automatically adjusts between side-by-side and stacked display modes based on screen width.
Notes¶
- Read-Only View: The change view provided in the current version is read-only and does not involve writing code.
- License: The plugin follows the MIT license, an open-source license that permits free use and modification.
- Source Code Security: As a locally running plugin, it is recommended to verify the source code’s security before installation.
Summary¶
changestab integrates diff viewing into the development environment by introducing a change history view in DSH. For users who are accustomed to using jj or git for version control, this plugin provides a solution for viewing change trees and code diffs without leaving DSH.
