Introduction¶
dsh-bash-native is a DSH plugin maintained by SpookyWaste, designed to provide a native POSIX bash execution environment on Windows. It is implemented in Rust, does not rely on WSL or MSYS compatibility layers, can run bash scripts directly on Windows, and aligns with DSH’s permission policies.
Core Features¶
- Native binary execution: A native program written in pure Rust, with no overhead from a virtual machine or emulation layer.
- Three-tier permission policies: Fully compatible with DSH’s permission control mechanism.
- Background job support: Supports running tasks in the background.
- Persistent terminal: Supports preserving terminal session state.
Installation and Dependencies¶
Before installing, ensure the environment meets the following requirements:
- DSH version:
>= 0.2.0-rc.2 - Node version:
>= 22.12.0 - Platform: Windows x64 only
The installation command is as follows:
dsh plugin --profile web add dsh-bash-native
Enable Configuration¶
After installation, enable the plugin in DSH settings:
- In Settings → General, set Native Bash (Windows) as the default preset, or switch to this preset when creating a new session.
- The persistent terminal component is disabled by default. Go to the plugin management interface and manually enable it to use the persistent terminal feature.
Notes¶
- This plugin is open source under the MIT License.
- The persistent terminal feature requires
DSH >= 0.2.1-alpha.2to function correctly. - Because it is a native Windows implementation, pay attention to path and command compatibility across different environments.
Conclusion¶
This plugin addresses compatibility-layer and performance overhead issues when using Git Bash or WSL on Windows. If you need to perform automation in a native Windows environment within DSH, this is a suitable choice.
