Introduction¶
DeepSeek Harness (DSH) adopts a modular architecture and emphasizes extensibility. For desktop application users, maintaining a cohesive appearance between the interface and the wallpaper is often a pain point. dsh-m3-monet is designed to address this issue. It uses the Material Design 3 dynamic color mechanism to automatically extract colors from a wallpaper and map them to the application interface, providing a Material You-style visual experience.

Installation and Enablement¶
This plugin must be installed as a local bundle after being cloned from Git.

After cloning, register the directory as a local bundle in the Harness profile (using the link: method). The changes take effect after reloading the application.
Core Features¶
1. Smart Wallpaper Color Extraction¶
The plugin includes an offline-bundled Material color extraction engine (based on @material/material-color-utilities). It analyzes the wallpaper using the HCT (Hue-Chroma-Tone) algorithm, generates a color seed, and maps it to Material 3 color roles.
- Color Source: Supports local images, image URLs, or built-in gradients.
- Automatic Refetch: Color extraction is triggered automatically when the wallpaper changes (detected via a content hash marker), without manual intervention.
- Fallback Handling: If color extraction fails, the previous colors are retained and an error is logged.
2. MD3 Token Mapping¶
The plugin injects over 100 MD3 alias tokens (--dsw-alias-*) into the Harness theme system. These tokens cover both light and dark modes, ensuring that interface element colors remain consistent with the extracted wallpaper palette.
3. Frosted Glass and Layout Customization¶
- Independent Configuration: The frosted glass effects for the sidebar and the main area can be configured separately, including toggle, blur strength, saturation, and opacity.
- Special Handling:
- The top title bar is fixed to a solid theme color and does not participate in the frosted glass effect.
- The original soft shadow boundary at the bottom of the sidebar is replaced with a 1px theme-color line.
- The wallpaper background fills the entire window and includes light-mode and dark-mode darkening layers.
4. Material You Visuals and Motion¶
- Control Styling: Switches, sliders, cards, and other controls follow Material 3 specifications.
- Motion Control: Supports shell color transition animations (default 250ms) and entrance animations on the settings page. If the system setting for “reduce motion effects” is enabled or animations are disabled on the settings page, animations are automatically disabled.
5. Settings Page Transparency and Color Control¶
- Settings Page Transparency: The settings dialog background uses a semi-transparent overlay combined with frosted glass, allowing the wallpaper to remain visible behind the settings page.
- Color Tuning: Supports style options (such as Standard, Vivid, and Soft), color intensity adjustment, and lightness fine-tuning.
- Preset Resources: Includes 8 Material palette presets and 8 gradient wallpapers, synchronized with the current palette.
Usage¶
- Go to Settings > Plugins > Monet Beautification > Configuration.
- Enable the wallpaper color extraction feature on the settings page.
- Change the desktop wallpaper; the plugin automatically extracts colors and applies them to the interface.
- Adjust the style, intensity, or use a preset palette on the configuration page.
Notes¶
- Session-Level Effect: Theme overrides apply only to the current session. Disabling or uninstalling the plugin restores the default interface, but the settings remain stored in local
localStorage. - Remote Image Limitations: If the wallpaper uses a remote image URL, it may fail to display due to browser CSP (Content Security Policy) restrictions. Using local images is recommended.
- UI Rendering: The interface is rendered solely using Harness theme tokens and
--dsw-*CSS variables, with no dependency on additional UI packages.
Ecosystem Background¶
DeepSeek Harness emphasizes the philosophy of “everything is a plugin.” The community directory (SkillHub) provides a rich set of plugin resources, with no official affiliation to DeepSeek or Huanfang. As an open-source plugin, dsh-m3-monet follows the MIT license, allowing users to freely use and modify it.
