dsh-deepseek-chat-embed: Embedding DeepSeek Chat into the DSH Desktop Client

DeepSeek Harness (DSH) is a local AI programming environment. During development, frequently switching windows to the web-based chat.deepseek.com for conversations can interrupt the workflow. The dsh-deepseek-chat-embed plugin is designed to deeply integrate the official chat page into the DSH desktop client, providing a dual-entry chat panel and persistent login sessions to address the pain point of switching between multiple tasks.

Core Features¶

The plugin follows a strategy pattern architecture and provides native solutions for different desktop environments.

• Dual-entry architecture
  • Left navigation main panel: Expands in an immersive full-screen view in the central session area, suitable for long consultations or in-depth planning.
  • Right sidebar: Displays side by side as a native Tab, suitable for quick reference while writing code or checking the terminal.
• Multi-desktop client support
  • Supports the official DSH desktop version (Electron) and DSH Dock (Tauri v2).
  • Supports the generic native multi-window protocol; third-party desktop shells (such as Wails and Qt) can also integrate through standard interfaces.
• Host and guest page interaction
  • Implements bidirectional mutual exclusion and smooth collapsing between the guest page and the host sidebar. When the guest page is expanded, the host sidebar automatically collapses; when the guest page is collapsed, the host sidebar smoothly expands.
  • Uses CSS linear interpolation along the same track to eliminate layout shifts.
• Robustness design
  • Non-invasive DOM adaptation: Locates nodes using structural and semantic heuristics, without relying on hardcoded class names, and remains resilient to front-end site updates.
  • Network isolation protection: Manages the TCP connection pool under high-concurrency scenarios to prevent page freezes.
  • Test assurance: Includes 100 automated contract regression tests.

Installation and Activation¶

The plugin can be installed via the command line or the DSH client GUI.

Command-line installation¶

Use the following command to add the plugin to the current active Profile:

dsh plugin add github:realguan/dsh-deepseek-chat-embed

GUI installation¶

1. Open the DSH client and go to Settings → Plugins.
2. Click ＋ Add Plugin in the top-right corner of the page.
3. Paste the GitHub repository address:

    github:realguan/dsh-deepseek-chat-embed

4. Read the security notice and then click Install.
5. After installation, restart the client for the changes to take effect.

Usage¶

After installation, the plugin provides two ways to open it:

1. Immersive mode: Click the 💬 Chat icon in the left navigation bar to display DeepSeek Chat in full screen across the central main workspace.
2. Collaborative mode: Click the always-visible button in the top-right corner to display it side by side as a Tab in the right sidebar. The code editor, file list, or terminal on the left remains visible, making it easy to reference information while coding.

Notes¶

• Permission risk: The plugin runs on your local machine with your user permissions. Install only plugins from trusted sources. Plugins of unknown origin may corrupt DSH or leak data.
• Manual updates: Automatic updates are not yet supported after installation. To upgrade, uninstall the old version first and then install the new version.
• Environment dependency: peerDependencies: @deepseek-ai/dsh >= 0.2.x is required.
