DeepSeek Harness (DSH) Plugin: Windows 11 / WinUI 3 Skin (`dsh-winui-skin`)

DeepSeek Harness (DSH) adopts an “everything is a plugin” philosophy. To improve the visual experience of the client, the dsh-winui-skin plugin transforms the Web/Desktop client into a Windows 11 / WinUI 3 (Fluent 2) style. It resolves the issue on Windows 11 where the CSS AccentColor keyword cannot reflect the system accent color, by reading the registry on the Host side to synchronize the color.

Core Features¶

The plugin implements theming through collaboration between the Host and Client sides:

Host side (reads system color): Uses reg query to read the Windows accent color registry key, and passes the data to the browser side via the loopback route /api/dsh-winui-accent. The entire process uses try/catch handling, ensuring that a read failure does not take down the host.
Client side (applies Fluent styles): Stacks 133 Fluent token layers, overriding DSH design tokens with the official WinUI 3 color palette and geometric values. Accent-color-related tokens are filled according to the color scale reported by the system.
Style injection: Injects its own stylesheet to handle the font stack (such as Segoe UI Variable), scrollbars, focus rectangles, Mica canvas layering, and acrylic popup outlines.
Color modes: Supports light, dark, and system-following color modes.
Automatic cleanup: On uninstall, automatically reclaims token layers and stylesheets, restoring the original appearance.

Installation and Enablement¶

Prerequisites: DSH Desktop/Web client, writable profile directory.

Clone the repository and run the installation script:

After installation completes, DSH will reassemble the profile, and the page will refresh automatically and apply the skin. If no change occurs within a few seconds, manually refresh the page once.

Implementation Details and Limitations¶

Font dependency: Depends on system-provided fonts (Segoe UI Variable, Cascadia Code). Windows 10 automatically falls back to Segoe UI / Consolas.
Accent color mechanism: Accent color reading relies on the registry. On non-Windows systems or when locked by policy, it falls back to the default WinUI blue. After changing the Windows accent color, it takes 20 seconds to become effective; refreshing the page can synchronize it immediately.
Material simulation: The Mica background is simulated with a very faint gradient, not a real system material. Native window material is determined by Electron and the system, and cannot be replaced.
Compatibility: Does not override hard-coded color schemes from third-party plugins. Appearance options on the settings page remain light/dark/system-following.
