DeepSeek Harness Plugin: ethanweave/dsh-connect-workbuddy

DSH (DeepSeek Harness) is an AI coding frontend that requires configuring a model provider before use. If you have a Tencent CodeBuddy (WorkBuddy) account and want to use its quota without incurring API costs, you need a local OpenAI-compatible gateway. The ethanweave/dsh-connect-workbuddy plugin provides an installation, auto-start, and operations suite for the upstream gateway in Windows environments, turning it into a local service that can be called directly from DSH.

Core Features¶

The plugin mainly solves the deployment and maintenance challenges of local gateways on Windows:

1. One-click installation: Automatically downloads the official binaries, performs SHA256 verification, and writes them to the %USERPROFILE%\workbuddy-gateway directory.
2. Auto-start at login: Registers a system scheduled task named WorkBuddy Gateway to automatically start the gateway at system startup.
3. Unified management: Provides a manage.ps1 script that supports starting, stopping, restarting, viewing logs, and uninstalling the gateway.
4. Health checks: Uses scripts to monitor task status, process health, port usage, and HTTP service availability.
5. Secure defaults: Credentials are not stored in a database; the gateway listens on 127.0.0.1 only by default; API Key support is available to add access control.

Installation and Enablement¶

Run the following command in the DSH terminal to install the plugin:

dsh plugin add github:ethanweave/dsh-connect-workbuddy

After installation, add the model provider in DSH settings. Configure it as follows:

• Protocol: OpenAI-compatible
• Base URL: http://127.0.0.1:8317/v1
• API Key: You can enter any value (the gateway does not validate the key by default)
• Model: You can retrieve available model IDs by accessing http://127.0.0.1:8317/v1/models

Gateway Management¶

The plugin provides the scripts\manage.ps1 script for managing the gateway’s runtime state:

Account Login¶

Before the first use, you need to run the login command locally to obtain an access token:

Notes¶

• Credential security: The workbuddy.json file contains real login credentials. Never commit it to code repositories, paste or share it, or upload it to cloud storage.
• Network restrictions: By default, the gateway listens on 127.0.0.1 only. If you need remote access, modify the listening address and combine it with firewall policies and an API Key.
• Permission requirements: Administrative privileges are not required. The scheduled task is registered and runs as the current user.
• Terms of service: The plugin only performs local forwarding and does not provide the ability to bypass quota limits. You must comply with the upstream service terms.

With this plugin, you can directly use your Tencent CodeBuddy quota in DSH without manually handling gateway deployment and auto-start procedures.
