dsh-memory: Persistent Memory Plugin for DeepSeek Harness

DeepSeek Harness (DSH) follows the philosophy that “everything is a plugin.” A common problem in agent development is that every time a session restarts, the agent behaves as if meeting for the first time, forgetting the previous context. The dsh-memory plugin implements a Claude Code-style memory model, allowing agents to retain memory across sessions without confusing different projects. It uses pure file storage and has no dependencies.

Plugin Positioning

The plugin is maintained by annkun and provides persistent memory functionality for DeepSeek Harness. It implements memory storage using plain Markdown files and requires no server, account, or embedding provider.

Core Features

  • Cross-session memory: The agent “wakes up” with context after a restart.
  • Visual memory manager: Manage memories through a UI, with support for search, tags, and grouping.
  • Project isolation: Project memories carry subdirectory tags and are read and written within session scope, avoiding cross-project confusion.
  • Security and boundaries: Bounded design (hard limits), pipeline safety (atomic writes, rejection of secret writes), and zero dependencies.

Installation and Activation

  1. Make sure DSH CLI is installed.
  2. Run the installation command. Note that the --profile parameter must be placed before add.
dsh plugin --profile web add @fooxe/dsh-memory
  1. Restart DSH. Tool registration only occurs when the service starts. Stop the service (Ctrl+C), then restart the service, and open a new session.

Typical Usage

The plugin provides four core tools:

  • memory_save: Save persistent memory.
  • memory_search: Case-insensitive keyword search (supports ID, title, tags, and content).
  • memory_read: Read a single memory.
  • memory_list: List recent memories by scope.

Usage example:
Tell the agent to remember a preference in the session, for example:

“Remember — this project uses pnpm, not npm.”
The agent calls memory_save to store the information. Ask in the next session:
“Which package manager do we use?”
The agent directly answers with the memorized content, without needing to ask again.

Scopes and Notes

The plugin uses two isolated scopes to store memories:

  • User scope (~/.dsh/memory): Stores personal preferences, cross-project experience, and working habits.
  • Project scope (<project-root>/.dsh/memory): Stores technical decisions, conventions, and team-shared information.

Notes:
* Command order: --profile must be placed before add.
* Restart to take effect: You must restart DSH after installation to register the tools.
* Security rejection: The write path rejects all secrets.
* Windows compatibility: Includes Windows path protection.
* Atomic writes: Prevents file corruption caused by crashes.

Summary

The plugin implements reliable memory functionality through the file system and is suitable for agent development scenarios that require long-term context. For more details, visit GitHub or the SkillHub directory.
