Introduction¶
The core philosophy of DeepSeek Harness (DSH) is “everything is a plugin,” allowing developers to attach capabilities as needed. When building agents that depend on accurate information, relying solely on model memory is often risky, as it can lead to hallucinations or citations of outdated information. This article introduces a plugin focused on fact-checking. It separates the verification process from the model’s internal memory and enforces open-web retrieval and multi-source cross-validation.
What It Is¶
7starsseeker/dsh-fact-check is a fact-checking skill plugin for DeepSeek Harness. It accepts claims, rumors, data, or news items and returns a verified report. Its core value lies in not depending on model memory, but ensuring the credibility of conclusions through mandatory search and cross-validation.
Core Features¶
The plugin enforces the following rules during verification:
1. No model memory: Even if the model “knows” the answer, it must first perform a web search. If search is unavailable, it directly reports “Unable to verify” and never substitutes recalled content.
2. Multi-source cross-validation: Each factual point requires at least 2-3 mutually independent sources. Multiple media outlets reposting the same original report count as only one source.
3. Parallel domestic and overseas search: The same claim is searched in parallel across domestic and overseas search ecosystems, and the results are reported separately, because information often exists only on one side.
4. Adversarial re-search: After forming a conclusion, it actively searches for contrary or debunking keywords. A high-confidence conclusion is given only if no counter-evidence is found.
5. Traceability: All assertions, numbers, dates, and citations include full URLs, source names, and specific citation locations.
6. Optional decision layer: After configuring a TypeSafe Jev Key, a decision layer can be enabled to assist in judging evidence support, source priority, and page availability.
Installation and Enablement¶
Install through the DSH plugin marketplace:
dsh plugin add dsh-fact-check
After installation, restart DSH, and the fact-check skill will appear in the session directory. The installation process does not shadow local user edits in ~/.dsh/skills/fact-check.
To enable the decision layer, configure a TypeSafe Jev Key (this Key is an optional setting).
Typical Usage¶
Provide claims, rumors, data, or news items directly in the conversation. The plugin returns a conclusion-first report and lists all traceable sources in the appendix.
Applicable Scenarios and Notes¶
- Host requirements: The DSH host must support searching public networks and retrieving page body content. If search functionality is unavailable, the plugin cannot work.
- Environment dependency: The bundled tools of the plugin require a Node.js >= 18 environment.
- Runtime dependencies: The plugin itself has zero runtime dependencies and only uses built-in Node modules.
Short Conclusion¶
By enforcing search and traceable reports, this plugin provides reliable fact-checking capability for DSH agents. For more details, refer to GitHub or the DSH Plugin Catalog.
