Introduction¶
The Web GUI of DeepSeek Harness supports extending its functionality through plugins. dsh-liquid-glass-wallpaper is a plugin that reads the local Wallpaper Engine library and renders it as a full-screen liquid glass background. It provides effects such as frost, gloss, vignette, and grain, giving the browser interface a frosted glass texture.
Core Features¶
The plugin works by reading local files and does not upload or distribute content.
-
Read Local Library
The plugin automatically discovers the Wallpaper Engine installation location (Steam app431960), scanslibraryfolders.vdfandappmanifestfiles, and enumerates wallpapers from Workshop content, myprojects, anddefaultprojects. -
Liquid Glass Rendering
Renders the wallpaper as a full-screen background layer with the following effects:- Frost effect via
backdrop-filter: blur(). - Soft-light gloss.
- Radial vignette to improve Chrome readability.
- An SVG film grain layer to eliminate blur banding.
- Optional pointer parallax effect.
- Frost effect via
-
Real-time Settings and Controls
Provides a settings card in the Web GUI (path: Settings → Liquid Glass Wallpaper). Supported features include:- A wallpaper grid with search and type filtering.
- Real-time sliders for blur, saturation, hue, and vignette.
- Toggles for grain, parallax, and fit mode (cover / contain).
-
Range Streaming
Video files are streamed using HTTP206Range requests, avoiding loading entire 4K files and supporting fast seeking and loop playback. -
State Persistence
The selected wallpaper and glass settings are saved inlocalStorageand automatically restored after page refresh or reload.
Installation and Enabling¶
Installation must be performed in a Windows environment and requires Wallpaper Engine to be installed.
- Install via Command Line
Ensure Node 20+ and the dsh CLI are installed, then run the following command:
dsh plugin --profile <your-profile> add github:XINGRUYU33224/dsh-liquid-glass-wallpaper
This adds the plugin to the bundle list of the specified profile.
- Use an Install Script (Optional)
You can also clone the repository and run the install script directly:
git clone https://github.com/XINGRUYU33224/dsh-liquid-glass-wallpaper.git
cd dsh-liquid-glass-wallpaper
pwsh -File install.ps1
- Enable the Plugin
After installation, completely quit the DeepSeek Harness Desktop app (do not merely refresh the page), then reopen it. The control card will be available under Settings → Liquid Glass Wallpaper.
Typical Usage¶
- Open DSH settings and go to the Liquid Glass Wallpaper card.
- Enter a keyword in the search box, or use the type filter to select a wallpaper (video, image, or web).
- Click the “Current Wallpaper” strip to choose the file to display.
- Turn on the main toggle to enable the background.
- Drag the sliders to adjust blur radius, saturation, hue, and vignette intensity, and see the effects in real time.
Applicable Scenarios and Notes¶
- Supported wallpaper types: Video, image, and web wallpapers are supported.
- Unsupported types: Scene wallpapers (
.pkgfiles) are not supported. The plugin cannot parse scene files, and using preview images directly would cause significant image quality degradation due to scaling. - Platform limitation: Automatic discovery of the wallpaper library depends on the Steam registry and
libraryfolders.vdfand therefore only supports Windows systems. - Copyright and privacy: The plugin only reads local files and does not upload or distribute any content. Workshop content belongs to its respective owners. Manually added paths are not written to disk.
Conclusion¶
This plugin provides DeepSeek Harness with a dynamic glass background solution based on the local Wallpaper Engine library. It uses CSS filters and Range streaming technology to achieve real-time, smooth visual effects. For more details and the source code, visit the GitHub repository.
