Preface¶

DSH Tavern supports long-form role-playing, but manually generating images for the story can be cumbersome. The DSH Tavern Image plugin reads the completed text, intelligently selects scenes suitable for illustration, sends them to the configured image generation service, and inserts the generated images back into the messages at their corresponding story positions.

Core Features¶

1. Images Follow the Text
   Illustrations can be inserted after the corresponding sentence and bound to that version of the text. When switching response versions, the images for that version are shown, making it easier to rewrite and review the story.

2. Avoid Unnecessary Images
   Intelligent image selection allows the planning model to skip turns that do not have a standalone scene. If you want to add an image to a specific turn, manual image generation remains available.

3. Character Profiles Can Be Reused
   Appearance and clothing are maintained centrally, and characters are filtered according to the current card. Permanent appearance changes that clearly occur in long-form stories can be saved separately in history, reducing inconsistencies between prompts.

4. Story Writing and Image Generation Can Use Different Models
   The text model handles the plot, the planning model decides what to draw, where to insert it, and how to write the prompt, while the image generation channel produces the images. All three can be selected independently.

5. Both Local and Online Services Are Supported
   With ComfyUI, you can directly select a model or import a custom workflow. When switching to an online channel, the character library, art style, and text image insertion workflow remain available.

Installation and Enablement¶

An installed DSH Tavern is required, along with the API endpoint and key for a local image generation service or an online platform.

Install using the official CLI:

Typical Usage¶

1. Configure Image Generation Service
   Configure the address and key for local ComfyUI, SD WebUI, or an online service (NovelAI, OpenAI, Gemini) in the plugin settings.

2. Adjust Text Image Display
   Adjust the display size of text images via the settings menu.

3. Adjust Illustration Size In Place
   Double-click an illustration in the text area to directly adjust its display width (without resampling the original image or changing the generation resolution).

Applicable Scenarios: Suitable for adding illustrations to long-form role-playing and stories, with centralized maintenance of character profiles and preservation of character consistency.

Notes:
* Character consistency and final image quality are affected by the image generation model, prompts, seeds, LoRAs, and other factors.
* The character library cannot guarantee that every image is exactly identical.
* The installer does not run repository scripts by default.
* The local install package entry point is used for downloading and transferring installation packages.

Conclusion¶

This plugin mainly addresses issues related to image placement, profile maintenance, and the operation workflow. Character consistency and final image quality are still affected by the image generation model, prompts, seeds, LoRAs, and other factors, and the character library cannot guarantee that every image is exactly identical.
