Introduction¶
DeepSeek Harness emphasizes modular expansion. When building an agent with long-term memory capabilities, capturing personal journals and managing emotional records requires a structured and controllable solution. Echo Notes is a memory-focused plugin designed to solve this problem.
Plugin Positioning¶
Echo Notes is an emotion-focused diary plugin hosted by DeepSeek Harness, turning the agent into a writing companion. Through emotional templates, timeline browsing, optional encryption, and scheduled reminders, it provides a complete solution for personal logging. The plugin is maintained by Smallballoons01, released under the MIT License, and classified in the “Memory” category.
Core Capabilities¶
-
Emotional Templates
Provides personality templates such as introvert / extrovert, as well as templates for specific emotions (happy, sad, anxious, tired, etc.), and supports free writing. -
Browsing and Retrieval
Supports filtering by time window, emotion, tags, and template, and provides full-text search. It also offers aggregated views by emotion / day / tag. -
Encrypted Storage
Uses the AES-256-GCM algorithm, with keys derived from the user’s passphrase via scrypt. Each note has a random IV, and the note ID is bound as Additional Authenticated Data (AAD). -
Scheduled Reminders
Supports daily, weekly, interval-triggered, or one-time reminders. When a reminder is triggered, the Agent is awakened to write an entry. -
Agent Integration
Provides theecho_notetool (with 9 actions) and theecho-notesskill, enabling the Agent to directly assist with writing. -
Automatic Locking
Supports automatically removing the key from memory after a period of inactivity.
Installation and Activation¶
Start from a local DSH session, install the current directory as a Bundle through the Plugin Manager, and use the absolute path of that directory. After installation, open “Echo Notes” from the sidebar and create a vault.
Usage Examples¶
- Create a vault and set a passphrase.
- Issue an instruction to the Agent, for example: “Help me write today’s journal. I feel a little tired today.”
- Review your logs by filtering the list with text or emotion, or open Settings to view emotion/day charts and statistics.
Notes¶
- Plaintext Metadata: Metadata such as title, emotion, tags, timestamps, word count, and pinned status remain in plaintext for indexing and filtering. This may allow storage backends to infer certain patterns.
- Encryption Limitations: Authenticated encryption can only detect tampering; it cannot prevent rollback or deletion operations.
- Permissions and Ownership: Harness owns the vault, encryption keys, reminders, and persistent storage. External MCP clients can only forward requests and cannot unlock the vault through tool calls.
Summary¶
Echo Notes provides an emotional journal solution running in the DeepSeek Harness environment, combining Agent-assisted writing with locally encrypted storage. It is suitable for users who need private local journaling and want the Agent to help organize their entries.
