dsh-session-eater: Feeding the Session

Introduction

During the use of DeepSeek Harness (DSH), session management is a common pain point. Directly deleting a session usually means permanent data loss, with no recovery means. The dsh-session-eater plugin solves this problem by redirecting deletion operations to the Windows system Recycle Bin, allowing undo actions before the data is emptied.

Plugin Introduction

This is a DSH Web plugin maintained by mikugui. It solves the “hard delete” problem in session management by moving session directories to the Recycle Bin instead of deleting them from disk immediately.

Core Features

  • Recycle Bin Mechanism: Drag unwanted sessions to the mouth of the chubby little fish at the bottom of the sidebar, and the session directory is sent to the Windows system Recycle Bin.
  • Undoable: Provides an “Undo” button on the receipt and a “Recently Eaten” ledger in the settings, supporting undo operations. Undo is only available on Windows (depends on PowerShell).
  • Rejection Logic: Automatically refuses to delete blank sessions, sessions currently in chat, and sessions currently running, displaying the rejection reason in place.
  • Highly Customizable: Supports customization of 17 UI text strings, provides a choice of three bowls (plain white rice / egg fried rice / gold coins), and supports custom icons and confirmation dialog colors.

Typical Usage

  1. Open Settings: Click the pill icon at the bottom of the sidebar (or press Tab + Enter) to jump directly to “Settings → Session Feeding”.
  2. Drag a Session: Grab any session row and drag it to the bottom. When released, a confirmation dialog appears first (can be disabled in settings).
  3. Confirm Deletion: Click “Delete” and the session disappears into the Recycle Bin; click “Cancel” to take no action.
  4. Undo and Restore: Click “Undo” on the receipt, or go to the settings to view the “Recently Eaten” ledger and undo, which restores the session to its original workspace.

Notes

  • Platform Limitation: Only the Windows platform supports the undo function, depending on powershell.exe to call system interfaces. Other platforms will report errors directly.
  • Recycle Bin Dependency: The undo function depends on files in the Recycle Bin. Once the Recycle Bin is emptied in File Explorer, the records in the plugin ledger will automatically disappear and cannot be recovered.
  • Session Type Limitation: Blank sessions, sessions currently in chat, and sessions currently running will be intercepted by the plugin and cannot be deleted.

Summary

This plugin provides DSH users with a safe session cleanup solution, achieving the fault-tolerance capability of “recovery from accidental deletion” through the Recycle Bin mechanism. It is suitable for users who frequently manage sessions and prioritize data security.
