Preface¶
DeepSeek Harness (DSH) adopts a plugin-based architecture. For the high-frequency operation of model selection and parameter configuration, this plugin takes over the model slot and provides model switching, reasoning strength adjustment, favorites management, and provider sorting. It allows users to search, filter, favorite, and adjust parameters in the same panel, and supports remembering the reasoning level per model.
Core Features¶
The panel integrates four main operation areas:
1. Search models: Quickly locate available models.
2. Switch by provider: The provider bar on the left supports filtering by provider.
3. Favorite commonly used models: The star bar on the left supports favoriting.
4. Adjust reasoning strength: The slider at the bottom controls the reasoning level.
The reasoning strength level is remembered individually per model. After switching models, the remembered level for that model is restored automatically, without needing to be set again.
Installation and Enabling¶
- Download the latest
kewen-dsh-model-controls-<version>.tgzfrom Releases. - In the installation field on the DSH plugin page, enter the absolute path to the file, for example
/Users/your-username/Downloads/kewen-dsh-model-controls-0.2.0.tgz. - Reload as prompted by the host. The plugin should be listed in Installed, named DSH Model Controller; the details page provides entries for configuration, enable/disable, and uninstall.
Build the installation package yourself:
npm ci --ignore-scripts
npm run verify
npm pack
The plugin declares dsh.bundle.patch; the official manager handles dependencies, profile bundle, and loading, so there is no need to manually add insertion entries. After installation, it takes over the official model slot by priority; after disabling, the official selector takes it back. Before installation, ensure that no old absolute path insertion entries are retained at the same time, to avoid duplicate loading.
Configuration and Magpie Integration¶
Standard Magpie integration requires no settings to fill in. The plugin detects the active DeepSeek API Key provider: when the credential reference is MAGPIE_API_KEY and the request address is the /v1 endpoint of a loopback host (127.0.0.1, localhost, or ::1), it is automatically identified as Magpie.
In Installed → DSH Model Controller, you can configure a fallback Magpie endpoint address for custom integration when it is not automatically recognized. If left blank, automatic detection is used.
Note: The displayed identity only changes the name and icon of the model entry, provider bar, and favorites; it does not modify the actual request routing. If the Harness deepseek-official request address is changed to Magpie, the actual provider ID in the model catalog remains deepseek-official.
Data and Compatibility¶
Client preferences are stored in localStorage; the key names include dsh003.model-picker.model-efforts, dsh003.model-picker.favorites, and dsh003.model-picker.provider-order.
- Uninstalling the plugin does not automatically delete the above preference data; preferences remain after reinstalling.
- The data is scoped only to the current client origin and is not synchronized across applications or devices.
- The version number must be a three-segment semver. A four-segment version number (e.g.,
0.2.3.1) may cause subsequent update errors.
Build dependencies use the publicly released DSH 0.1.7-rc.2 types package and Cordis 4.0.4.
Summary¶
This plugin builds on the model selector by adding favorites, sorting, and reasoning strength adjustment that is remembered per model. It is suitable for scenarios where users need to switch models frequently and fine-tune reasoning parameters.
