Introduction¶
When using DeepSeek Harness (DSH) to execute tasks, especially when waiting for subtasks or long-running jobs, it is easy to switch to another window and forget to check the current task status. This plugin reminds you via a notification when a task finishes, so you can quickly review the result after handling other affairs.
Plugin Description¶
Name: herenfor/dsh-task-notify
Positioning: client plugin
Overview: DeepSeek Harness task completion notification plugin, with browser notifications and Windows notifications as a fallback.
Core Features¶
- Sends a notification when a round of conversation ends normally; no reminder is sent on cancellation, error, or completion of delegated subtasks.
- Supports the minimal preset in Web mode, triggering notifications even if the AI has no tools.
- Uses Windows system notifications as a fallback.
- Notification failures do not affect task execution.
Installation and Enablement¶
Run the following command in the WSL terminal:
dsh plugin --profile web add github:herenfor/dsh-task-notify#v0.0.1
After installation, restart DSH and refresh the browser page. The plugin will be loaded automatically.
Enablement steps:
1. Open DSH Settings → Task Notifications.
2. Click Enable Browser Notifications and select Allow in the browser prompt.
3. Click “Test Notification” to confirm that you can receive reminders.
Typical Usage¶
- Run the installation command in the WSL terminal.
- Keep the DSH page connected in the browser so browser notifications can be received.
- Wait for the task to finish and check the notification.
- To test Windows notifications separately: run
./notify-windows.shin the plugin source directory.
Applicable Scenarios and Notes¶
- Target environment: currently mainly used in Windows 11 + WSL2.
- Connection requirement: browser notifications require one DSH page to remain connected. If the page is closed or permission has not been granted, Windows notifications are used automatically.
- Permission management: notification permissions are saved separately per browser and website address. If you switch browsers or ports, you need to allow them again.
- Stability: failed notification sending does not affect task execution.
- Icon source: the whale icon is from DeepSeek Harness.
