Introduction¶

The core design philosophy of DeepSeek Harness (DSH) is that “everything is a plugin.” When handling long sessions, developers often face two pain points: first, they need to skim the context like reading documentation; second, they need to quickly locate historical conversation nodes.

Although the existing dsh-better-display and dsh-tidychat address reading and navigation separately, they conflict: the reading view loses the host’s line-level anchors, causing the anchor-dependent message rail to fail silently; meanwhile, the message rail’s DOM modifications overlap with the native collapsing feature introduced in host 0.1.2+.

dsh-tidy-display is maintained by drscrewdriver and merges these two plugins. It resolves the need for long sessions to be skimmable, locatable, and resumable, and supports native “Conversation” and “Reading” dual views.

Core Features¶

This plugin mainly consists of two parts: a reading view and a message rail.

Reading View¶

The reading view collapses the execution process into expandable summaries, displays the final answer as a message bubble, and uses the same translucent background for thinking cards, with support for streaming thinking.

• Streaming thinking and collapsing: The thinking process can follow scrolling, can be paused, and can be expanded to full text.
• Visual optimization: The final answer uses a translucent bubble background, and thinking cards use the same translucent background, letting the theme wallpaper show through.
• Official bridging: Tool views, feedback, and artifact cards are rendered through official slots to ensure compatibility.

Message Rail¶

The message rail provides a canvas navigation rail at the edge of the session area, supporting fisheye hover, summary cards, click-to-jump, and other features.

• Interaction: Supports fisheye hover, summary cards, click-to-jump, and highlighting the current turn while scrolling.
• Styles and position: Supports line/dot styles and left-edge/right-edge (mirrored) positioning.
• Visual enhancement: A white soft-glow outer ring marks the current and hovered turns, remaining visible on complex wallpapers.
• Colors: Supports automatic (following the theme) or custom (color picker + HEX/RGB text + opacity slider).
• Available in both views: Usable in both the native “Conversation” view and the “Reading” view.

Installation and Enabling¶

Dependency Check¶

Before installation, ensure the following plugins are uninstalled or disabled; otherwise, installation will fail due to duplicate registration of the reader view:
* dsh-better-display
* dsh-tidychat

Installation Command¶

Use the official Web CLI to install:

dsh plugin --profile web add dsh-tidy-display

Older Host Installation¶

If the host version is older (0.1.1 / 0.1.2 / 0.1.5), install by specifying a tag:

Notes¶

• Version range: This plugin supports DSH versions 0.1.0–0.2.0. DSH 0.1.0-rc.6 and earlier versions are not supported.
• Configuration storage: Configuration is persisted under dsh.reader.v1.
• Older host compatibility: Older hosts (0.1.1/0.1.2/0.1.5) require installation with a specific tag, and reading view features are limited.
