DeepSeek Harness Plugin: dsh-background-swapper

Introduction

When using DeepSeek Harness, the interface can often feel rather plain. The dsh-background-swapper plugin addresses the need to set a personal photo as the Harness background, manage an image library, and fine-tune interface transparency and effects.

Overview

The plugin is maintained by DevTarlow and released under the MIT license. Its core value lies in providing a complete background management solution, including photo upload, library management, preset effects, and fine-grained adjustment of interface opacity.

  • Background setting and library management: Supports drag-and-drop upload or file selection. After uploading, photos can be renamed or deleted. Photos are displayed as thumbnails in “Recent,” and clicking a thumbnail switches to that photo.
  • Preset effects: Provides three presets—Wallpaper, Glass, and Solid—to adjust the opacity balance between the background, elements, and sidebar with one click.
  • Fine-tuning: Controls how the interface blends with the background using three sliders: background opacity, element opacity, and sidebar opacity. Supports Tint and Blur effects.
  • Save custom appearance: Once satisfied with the adjustments, click “Save current” to save the current combination. It can be recalled later at any time.
  • Turn off background: You can disable the background display at any time, restoring the interface to its default state.

Install and Enable

  1. Open Plugins in the left sidebar.
  2. Click Install.
  3. Paste the repository URL:
    https://github.com/DevTarlow/dsh-background-swapper
  1. Install and refresh the page.

If installing from a local copy, you can also clone the repository and enter the folder path in the install dialog.

Typical Usage

  1. Click Swap Background above the settings in the left sidebar to open the panel.
  2. In the “Add a photo” area, drag in an image or click “Choose file,” enter a name, and click Save.
  3. In the “Appearance” area, select a preset such as Glass, then manually adjust the sliders for finer tuning.
  4. Once satisfied, click Save current, enter a name, and save the appearance.
  5. In the “Recent” list, click a thumbnail to switch the current photo, or click Turn off to clear the background.

Data Storage and Configuration

  • Storage location: Photos and configuration files are stored in the Harness data directory:
    ~/.dsh/storages/background-swapper/
├── index.json (contains names, the current photo, slider settings, and custom appearances)
    └── images/ (photo files)
*Note: Cross-browser synchronization requires the same Harness data directory.*
  • Configuration options: The plugin reads the following settings from cordis.patch.yml:
    • pageSize: Number of items per page in “Recent” (default 6).
    • maxImageBytes: Maximum uploaded file size (default 16MB).
    • maxDimension: Maximum image side length (default 2560px).
    • dataDir: Custom storage directory (default is empty, using the path above).

Summary

If you want to create a personalized workspace background in Harness, or if you need to manage multiple wallpapers uniformly and pair them with different interface styles, this plugin provides a direct and practical solution.
