dsh-session-chat-share: Export a DeepSeek Harness Chat Snippet

The plugin-based design of DeepSeek Harness (DSH) allows users to extend functionality through community plugins. dsh-session-chat-share focuses on exporting and sharing session data, addressing the need of developers or users to save or distribute conversation records in specific formats (Markdown, HTML, TXT, or PNG). The plugin supports both command-line and interface-based operations, allowing users to precisely control the scope and content of the export.

Core Features

1. Command-Line and Interface Integration

The plugin registers the /share slash command on the web client and adds a “Share” action button in the Session Header. If the current Harness UI Workspace supports the sessionRowMenu contribution point (registry), the plugin also adds “Share” and “Save TXT” options to the ... menu in the Sidebar, enabling direct actions on individual session rows.

2. Scope Selection and Export

The dialog opened via the /share command lists shareable messages in the conversation. Users can select the export scope using From/To selectors, clicking rows, or switching to “multi-selection mode.” The following four export formats are supported:
* Markdown: Plain text, organized by role (User/Assistant) headings.
* HTML: Self-contained page rendered with GFM-lite (supports headings, lists, tables, blockquotes, code blocks, and links); images are embedded as Data URIs.
* TXT: Plain text file.
* PNG: Rasterizes the HTML Artifact above into an image file.

3. Configuration Options

Before exporting, the following options can be configured:
* Redact sensitive info (enabled by default): Blurs credential-like patterns and local absolute paths, but this is a best-effort, pattern-matching operation and not an absolute guarantee.
* Include tool calls (disabled by default): Includes tool-call lines.
* Include subagent conversations (disabled by default): Includes subagent conversations, with separator headings.

4. Data Reading Mechanism

The plugin reads session data from the host’s session-query service in a “cold read” manner. This means that exports cover the entire conversation regardless of how many messages are currently cached in the browser. The command runs at the human instruction level and does not consume tokens.

5. Optional Auto-Save

After setting autoSaveDir in the plugin configuration, the system automatically saves the current conversation as a TXT file to the specified directory after each conversation turn ends.

Installation and Enablement

Ensure your DeepSeek Harness version is 0.1.6-alpha.2 or higher. Install the plugin with the following command:

dsh plugin --profile demo add dsh-session-chat-share

After installation, the plugin becomes available in any conversation.

Typical Usage

  • Open the share dialog: Enter /share in any conversation.
  • Export the full conversation as TXT: Enter /share txt.
  • Export the last 10 messages: Enter /share last 10.
  • Export the last 10 messages as TXT: Enter /share txt last 10.
  • Select the scope from the UI: Click the Share button in the Session Header or the ... menu in the Sidebar, then select rows and export.

Notes

  • Version dependency: This plugin requires DeepSeek Harness version 0.1.6-alpha.2 or higher.
  • Data volume limit: The dialog lists up to 300 shareable messages. To export earlier messages, use commands such as /share txt to export the full conversation directly.
  • Hosting limitation: The sharing feature only copies the Artifact to the clipboard or downloads it locally; it does not upload to any server.
  • Included content: Message text is shared as rendered surface content; reasoning text and tool results are not included by default unless the corresponding options are enabled.
  • Sidebar menu: The Share/Save TXT items in the Sidebar require Harness to support the sessionRowMenu contribution point registry.

Summary

dsh-session-chat-share provides DeepSeek Harness with standardized conversation export capabilities. Integrated into both the UI and the command line, it allows users to flexibly save conversations in Markdown, HTML, TXT, or PNG formats. Its Host Session Query-based reading mechanism ensures data completeness, while the Redaction option protects sensitive information by default.
