dsh-prompt-seed: A DSH Plugin for Expanding Seeds into Executable Prompts

Preface

The “rewrite my draft” slot in the DSH ecosystem is crowded, with more than 26 plugins. Most plugins perform “polishing”: removing filler words, tightening wording, limiting length, and refusing to add content the user did not write. dsh-prompt-seed does the opposite. Its goal is to expand thin seeds (usually a single line) into agent-executable requests, while preserving meaning through a semantic fidelity gate.

Core Features

The plugin provides the following capabilities:

  1. Seed Expansion: Converts a one-line seed into a concrete, actionable prompt.
  2. Clarification: Cleans up messy but complete drafts into clearer versions while keeping the length roughly the same.
  3. Semantic Admission Gating: Maintains semantic fidelity through a self-audit mechanism. If violations are detected, it repairs them and re-audits.
  4. Signal Handling: Processes “bare signals” (such as the number 42 or “continue,” “ok”) and short instructions by parsing them into pending dialogue actions.
  5. Version Management: Keeps up to 3 versions for regeneration.
  6. Zero Build: No build toolchain required; includes a browser package.

Installation and Enablement

Make sure your environment meets the requirements: DSH >= 0.2.0-rc.1 < 0.3.0-0 and Node >= 22.19.

Install the released tarball using the following command:

dsh plugin --profile <name> add \
  https://github.com/Zian-anson/dsh-prompt-seed/releases/download/v0.12.0/dsh-prompt-seed-0.12.0.tgz

After installation, verify that the plugin has loaded by running dsh --profile <name> --dump-config.

Typical Usage

  1. Expansion from a Seed: Enter a rough draft like “make an image compression feature,” click ✦, and it will be replaced with a detailed, actionable prompt.
  2. Handle Signals: Enter “continue” or the number “42” to continue a pending dialogue action.
  3. View Credentials: Hover over the ↺ button to view admission-gating credentials (fidelity judgment, size change, filled fields).
  4. Version Rollback: If the result is not correct, click ‹ to return to the previous version.

Behavioral Differences

Unlike typical optimizer plugins that focus on trimming and constraining, this plugin adds detail to content the user did not write (product and risk).

  • Sparse Seeds: Expanded into executable requests (measured as 10-25x expansion).
  • Precise Instructions: Kept as-is (measured as 1.0-1.1x expansion).
  • Violations: Repairs specific violation types, re-audits, and refuses only if distortion still occurs.
  • Visualization: Displays admission-gating credentials (fidelity ✓, +178 characters, filled items: format, quality, edge cases), rather than only the length ratio.

Notes

  1. Content Addition: The plugin adds content the user did not write. This is intended functionality and also the risk.
  2. Dependency Checks: If the webServer or slots service is missing, the plugin logs an error and disables itself instead of interrupting DSH startup.
  3. Developer Preview: DSH is in developer preview stage; minor version updates may contain breaking changes.
