DeepSeek Harness Skin Master Plugin (dsh-skin-master): Desktop Custom Skin and Wallpaper Tool

DSH desktop client has a complete default interface, but its visual style is usually consistent. For developers who want personalization or adaptation to specific workflows, the dsh-skin-master plugin offers a direct solution, allowing deep customization of the interface appearance without modifying the core code.

Plugin Overview¶

dsh-skin-master is a custom skin plugin for the DeepSeek Harness (DSH) desktop client. It supports replacing the global wallpaper, enabling frosted glass effects, customizing the appearance of input boxes and pop-up boxes, and adjusting the colors and fonts of AI reply text and message bubbles. The plugin is maintained by Lzhimie, released under the MIT license, and its core functionality has been extracted from the dsh-community-plugins module of the DeepSeek-Harness-NB project for independent maintenance.

Core Features¶

The plugin covers most of the visual elements of the DSH interface:

1. Background Control

   • Background image / video: Supports setting the wallpaper via URL or local file. Locally uploaded files are persisted.
   • Display mode: Supports cover, fit, and tile modes.
   • Effect adjustment: Supports background blur (frosted glass), interface transparency, and image scaling.
   • Filters: Supports brightness, contrast, and saturation adjustment, with a one-click option to restore defaults.

2. Input Box Background

   • Image modes: Provides 6 image modes (fill, fit, stretch, tile, center, cross-region) for selection.
   • Interaction: Supports dragging the preview frame to adjust the image position.
   • Style: Supports gradient transitions, image blur/transparency, scaling, and independent input box transparency adjustment (frosted glass effect).

3. Pop-up Box Background

   • Adjusts the transparency, frosted glass blur, and grain texture of expanded panels such as the command menu, model selection, workspace, and search.

4. Message and Text Style

   • Messages sent by you: Customizable bubble background color, text color, transparency, and blur.
   • AI reply text: Supports custom text color.
   • Font settings: Supports bold and text shadow separately for AI replies and your messages. You can precisely adjust bold font weight (400–900) and shadow intensity (0–100%).

5. Persistence and Real-Time Updates

   • All settings take effect immediately and are persisted to the host disk, automatically restored after the app restarts.

Installation and Enablement¶

Install the plugin from the command line:

dsh plugin --profile desktop add "github:Lzhimie/dsh-skin-master"

After installation, restart the DeepSeek Harness client. Click the palette icon at the bottom of the sidebar to open the “Skin Master” drawer and configure settings.

Typical Usage¶

1. Click the palette icon at the bottom of the sidebar to open the “Skin Master” drawer.
2. Enable the background master switch, then enter an image URL or click to select a local file.
3. Use the 6 image mode chips to switch the background display mode.
4. Drag the image frame in the preview area to adjust the image position.
5. Adjust the input box transparency, or customize the bubble color and font weight for your sent messages.

Data and Notes¶

• Settings file location: <DSH 主目录>/dsh-skin-master/skin.json.
• Local uploaded assets location: <DSH 主目录>/dsh-skin-master/assets/.
• Legacy inheritance: If you previously used the custom skin feature in the community plugin center, this plugin will read-only inherit the old community-skin.json configuration and legacy in-browser configuration (dsc.skin) until you make your first modification.
• Network dependency: Installation requires network access to github.com. If the download fails, configure a proxy.
