dsh-models-plus: DeepSeek Harness Local Loopback Routing Proxy Plugin

In the development workflow for DeepSeek Harness, external clients often need to access local models directly through specific API protocols. Manually configuring a reverse proxy is not only cumbersome but also prone to causing version compatibility issues. The dsh-models-plus plugin aims to solve this pain point by using official extension slots to provide Harness with a ready-to-use local routing proxy service.

It is a plugin maintained by user gongstudent and belongs to the “Networking Tools” category. It leverages DSH’s official extension mechanism to run a local proxy service that listens on the loopback address (127.0.0.1), forwarding requests in OpenAI and Anthropic formats to the model providers configured inside Harness.

Core Features

  • Local Loopback Routing Proxy: Provides a local proxy service with default port 8317, bound only to 127.0.0.1, ensuring security.
  • Bidirectional Protocol Bridging: Supports OpenAI (/v1/chat/completions) and Anthropic (/v1/messages) protocols, allowing external clients (such as Cline, Claude Dev, Cursor, LibreChat) to connect seamlessly.
  • Zero-Conflict UI Extension: Integrates through the official settings.models.footer slot, does not replace the core package, and prevents feature failures or blank UIs caused by version updates.
  • Health Check and Route Discovery: Provides the /health endpoint to check service status and discover available routes.

Installation and Activation

  1. Install the plugin. Choose the corresponding command based on the current Harness profile (Web or Desktop):
dsh plugin --profile web add -w github:gongstudent/dsh-models-plus
or
dsh plugin --profile desktop add -w github:gongstudent/dsh-models-plus
  1. Start Harness: run dsh web.
  2. In the interface, navigate to Settings -> Models. The “Local Route Proxy” card provided by the plugin will appear at the bottom of the settings page.

Typical Usage

After starting it, use curl to verify that the service is working properly:

curl http://127.0.0.1:8317/health

Example successful response:

{"status":"ok","host":"127.0.0.1","routes":["deepseek","openai","anthropic"],"endpoints":["/v1/chat/completions","/v1/responses","/v1/messages"]}

Use Cases and Notes

  • Use Cases: Developers who need to run models locally while also allowing external tools to interact through a local port as if calling an official API.
  • Important Notes:
    • The plugin listens only on the local loopback address (127.0.0.1) and cannot be accessed from other machines on the same LAN.
    • The plugin does not store API keys; requests directly use the credentials configured upstream in Harness.
    • It does not include any telemetry or data collection.
    • It is compatible with Web and Desktop profiles (v0.1.x / v0.2.x and later).

dsh-models-plus keeps the local routing proxy lightweight and stable through a plugin-based approach. For more details, see the plugin directory or the GitHub repository.
