dsh-workbuddy-connect: Connecting the WorkBuddy Model to DeepSeek Harness

Introduction

The design philosophy of DeepSeek Harness is “everything is a plugin.” When using DSH for conversation or development, users often need to connect model sources other than the default ones. WorkBuddy provides models such as GLM-5.3, DeepSeek-V4-Pro, and Kimi-K3, but previous integration usually required installing the WorkBuddy desktop app and maintaining local configuration files.

The dsh-workbuddy-connect plugin solves this problem. It integrates WorkBuddy (China edition/international edition) models into DeepSeek Harness, allowing you to directly switch to and use these models within DSH’s native conversation window without an additional desktop application.

Core Features

  1. Built-in login and credential management: The plugin includes a built-in login feature, so you do not need to install the WorkBuddy desktop app. Users can click “Sign In” in the settings card, or run a command in the terminal. After browser authorization is completed, credentials are written to the plugin directory. The China and international editions have independent logins; accounts and credits do not mix.

  2. Coexistence of China and international editions: After signing in to the China edition, a “WorkBuddy” group is displayed; after signing in to the international edition, a “WorkBuddy AI” group is displayed. Models, accounts, and credits from the two editions do not mix. In the settings card, a “China edition / International edition” tab switch is placed at the top, displaying their respective accounts, balances, and sign-in buttons.

  3. Sidebar quota display: After expanding the settings card, the topmost section is the sidebar display setting. You can enable sidebar quota display separately for the China and international editions and customize the refresh interval (default 5 minutes). Once enabled, a quota card for that edition appears at the bottom of the sidebar; clicking it shows an overview and details.

  4. Free model on/off and filtering: The settings card provides a “Model Switch” page, supporting freely enabling or hiding specified models. Disabled models are automatically hidden from DSH’s model selection dropdown and popups. It provides an instant search box and batch controls, and settings for both editions are independently persisted.

  5. Daily automatic check-in and logs: It supports automatically completing WorkBuddy’s daily welfare check-in every day. You can customize the daily check-in time in settings (default 10:00 Beijing time), with a startup fallback mechanism to check in if missed. The settings card has a permanent “Check-in Log” page, providing transaction records and shortcut actions for “Check In Now”, “Refresh”, and “Clear Log”.

  6. Information display: In the model selection list, each model name directly displays the credit multiplier (such as GLM-5.2 · x0.79). Promotional badges (limited-time free, nightly discount) follow directly after the model name. The settings card also summarizes models currently with discounts.

  7. Image input and reasoning tiers: Most models support sending images; paste or drag images directly in conversation (e.g. GLM-5.3-Flash, DeepSeek-V4 series). For models that do not declare selectable tiers, Web and Desktop can click “Reasoning Level” in the model selector to manually detect. Detection sends a small number of requests and may consume credits.

Installation and Activation

Before use, please confirm the DeepSeek Harness core version. This plugin requires core version >= 0.1.7-rc.1. If using the TUI (terminal interface) version, ensure you have installed 0.10.0-beta.5 or later, otherwise startup will fail.

Taking the Web profile as an example for installing the plugin:

dsh plugin --profile web add github:masknull/dsh-workbuddy-connect
dsh web

After installation is complete, you can see the WorkBuddy model group in DSH’s model selector. Click “Sign In” in the settings card, or run a command in the terminal to complete authorization.

Typical Usage

  1. Sign In: Complete authorization in the browser.
dsh plugin --profile web exec dsh-workbuddy-connect login
  1. Check Status: Use the command to check login status and remaining credits.
dsh plugin --profile web exec dsh-workbuddy-connect status
  1. Sign In to International Edition: Use the --provider parameter to specify the international edition provider.
dsh plugin --profile web exec dsh-workbuddy-connect login --provider workbuddy-ai

Applicable Scenarios and Notes

This plugin is suitable for users who need to directly call WorkBuddy models in DeepSeek Harness.

  • Permissions and data: The plugin runs with the current DSH process permissions; before installation, it is recommended to check the source code and license (MIT).
  • Credit consumption: The manual detection feature for reasoning tiers sends a small number of requests and may consume a small amount of credits.
  • Data location: Data files are located at $DSH_HOME/profiles/<profile>/.dsh-workbuddy-connect/.
  • Version restrictions: TUI users currently cannot use manual reasoning tier detection, and TUI requires 0.10.0-beta.5 or later.

Summary

After completing the steps above, WorkBuddy models have been integrated into DeepSeek Harness. You can directly use these models in DSH’s conversation window, enjoying features such as built-in login, sidebar quota display, model filtering, and automatic check-in. This plugin is maintained by masknull and is open source under the MIT license.
