DeepSeek Harness (DSH) adopts a plugin-based architecture that allows users to customize the startup experience. The dsh-550c-boot plugin is designed to address the limited visual variety during startup. It replicates the boot process of a 550C device, overrides the native Loading interface, and unifies the desktop’s native buttons under a consistent terminal color scheme.
Plugin Introduction¶
This plugin is maintained by developer yannicksong0106 and falls into the “Fun Skins” category. It works by injecting a specific first frame during DSH’s startup phase and playing a full-screen animation, thereby taking over the boot screen.
Core Features¶
- Two levels: Supports both “Simple” and “Full” modes. The Simple mode lasts about 4 seconds and only displays the logo writing effect; the Full mode lasts about 16 seconds and shows the complete override flow.
- Skip anytime: In Full mode, you can click the screen or press
Escto end the playback early. - Override the Loading card: The first frame is injected by the host side and occupies the screen before plugin evaluation, which hides DSH’s native Loading card.
- Phosphor color schemes: Four built-in color schemes are included (amber, green, cyan, and white). The native buttons in the top-right corner of desktop windows can also be unified into the same color scheme.
- Zero runtime dependencies: The plugin itself includes no external dependencies.
Installation and Enablement¶
To install it, run the following command:
dsh plugin --profile web add dsh-550c-boot
After installation, restart the DSH client for the plugin to take effect during startup.
Typical Usage¶
- Switch the mode in Settings -> General -> 550C Boot Animation.
- Click the “Preview” button to view the animation effect.
- In Full mode, you can skip the playback by pressing
Escor clicking the screen during playback.
Applicable Scenarios and Notes¶
- Version requirement: Requires DSH version
>=0.2.0-rc.1. - Override timing: It can only overlay the full screen after the Web UI has loaded; it cannot be displayed before the initial blank frame of the Electron window.
- First-frame mechanism: The first frame is a solid-color placeholder, not an animation frame.
- Button limitations: The native desktop buttons can only change color and cannot be removed. On macOS, the top strip remains responsible for window dragging during playback.
- Playback frequency: The animation plays on every client load, including page refreshes. Duplicate playback suppression is not currently supported.
Conclusion¶
By injecting a first frame and overlaying a full-screen animation, this plugin adds a personalized boot experience to DSH. If you need a specific startup visual style, you can refer to its GitHub repository.
