In the DeepSeek Harness (DSH) development environment, frequently switching between the desktop app window and browser tabs can interrupt your train of thought. DSH follows the “everything is a plugin” philosophy, aiming to solve such fragmented operation issues through lightweight extensions. dsh-whale-btn is a host plugin developed based on this idea, providing desktop-level quick access.
Plugin Purpose¶
This is a desktop floating whale button plugin maintained by hhj2714. It displays a topmost, draggable whale icon on the macOS desktop, used to quickly focus or open the DSH app window without switching browser tabs.

Installation and Activation¶
Install the plugin using the official command:
dsh plugin --profile web add https://github.com/hhj2714/dsh-whale-btn
After installation, restart the dsh process for it to take effect.
Typical Usage¶
- Single click: Focuses the opened DeepSeek Harness app window; if it is not open, starts it.
- Drag: Moves 1:1 with the cursor.
- Right click: Exits the whale (it automatically comes back the next time dsh starts).
Use Cases and Notes¶
- Platform limitation: Supports macOS + Apple Silicon (arm64) only.
bin/whale-btnis a native arm64 binary; Intel Mac / Windows / Linux are not supported. - Permissions and security: The plugin runs with the current dsh process permissions. It is recommended to review the source code and license (MIT) before installation.
- Activation mechanism: Restart dsh after installation for it to take effect.
