dsh-web-enhance: DSH Web UI Plugin for Round-by-Round Navigation, Chain of Thought Expansion, and Session Cost

Preface

The plugin mechanism of DSH (DeepSeek Harness) allows you to attach additional capabilities to the Web UI. For users of the DSH Web UI, quick navigation to a specific turn within a long conversation, default expansion of Think reasoning, and viewing the cost of official DeepSeek API sessions are several specific enhancements.

dsh-web-enhance is a DSH Web UI enhancement plugin maintained by yangzhe1991, under the MIT license. It is provided via the community directory; the community directory has no official affiliation with DeepSeek or Mirana, and should not be interpreted as an official app store. The DSH plugin ecosystem emphasizes “everything is a plugin,” and this plugin also focuses on small enhancements around the daily user experience of the Web UI.

What is this

dsh-web-enhance is an enhancement plugin for the DSH Web UI, currently providing three capabilities:

  • Per-turn conversation navigation: A floating button in the bottom right jumps to the current turn’s start/end; if fixed at the start/end, it jumps to the previous/next turn.
  • Chain of Thought default expansion: Automatically expands Think reasoning rows by default, toggleable, with preference persistence.
  • Session cost metering: Only for official DeepSeek API sessions, displaying estimated/accumulated CNY costs based on peak/off-peak pricing and official rates.

Compatibility status is as follows:

  • dsh ≥ 0.1.2-alpha.4
  • Supported since dsh 0.1.5
  • dsh 0.1.0-rc.x supported via legacy snapshot paths

The license is MIT.

Core Features

Per-turn Conversation Navigation

Provides a floating button in the bottom right of the conversation area for jumping between the current turn and adjacent turns:

  • ⬆: Jump to the start of the current turn; if already fixed at the start, jump to the start of the previous turn.
  • ⬇: Jump to the end of the current turn; if already fixed at the end, jump to the end of the next turn.

This set of buttons is suitable for repeatedly viewing context within a long session.

Chain of Thought Default Expansion

The 💡 button is used to toggle the Chain of Thought default expansion state:

  • When enabled, Think reasoning rows are automatically expanded by default.
  • When disabled, it reverts to the built-in single-line summary.
  • Expansion preferences are persisted via localStorage.
  • Manually folded individual rows will not be forcibly expanded.

Session Cost Metering

Session cost metering is displayed only in sessions where the provider route is deepseek-official, located at the far left of the statistics row.

It displays estimated/accumulated CNY costs based on peak/off-peak pricing and official rates. This cost information disappears once the session switches to another API.

Unloaded historical sessions lack per-request data and will be estimated based on the current model’s off-peak price, marked with ≈.

Installation and Activation

Installation command:

dsh plugin --profile web add @yangzhe1991/dsh-web-enhance

This command executes pnpm add and automatically appends the bundle to dsh.profile.bundles.

After installation, you need to restart the Web GUI:

  1. Use Ctrl+C to terminate the dsh web process.
  2. Run dsh web again.
  3. Refresh the browser tab.

For local development, you can install from a path:

dsh plugin --profile web add link:/path/to/@yangzhe1991/dsh-web-enhance

Modifications require rebuild + restart.

Typical Usage

  1. Install and restart the DSH Web UI.
  2. Use the ⬆ / ⬇ buttons in the bottom right of the conversation to jump between the current turn’s start and end; if fixed, continue jumping to the previous or next turn.
  3. Use the 💡 button to toggle the default expansion of Think reasoning rows; when disabled, it restores the single-line summary.
  4. In an official DeepSeek API session, check the CNY cost at the far left of the statistics row; non-official API sessions do not display this cost information.

Use Cases and Notes

Suitable for the following use cases:

  • Using DSH Web UI and wanting to reduce manual scrolling in long conversations.
  • Needing to view Think reasoning content by default.
  • Using the official DeepSeek API and wanting to see session-level CNY cost estimates or accumulated values.

Notes to be aware of:

  • Session cost metering only applies to sessions with the provider route deepseek-official; it disappears after switching to another API.
  • Unloaded historical sessions lack per-request data and may be estimated based on the current model’s off-peak price, marked with ≈.
  • Chain of Thought default expansion only changes the default state; manually folded individual rows remain folded.
  • The plugin runs with the current DSH process permissions; check the source code, dependencies, and license before installing. This plugin’s license is MIT.
  • Compatible versions are dsh ≥ 0.1.2-alpha.4 (supported since dsh 0.1.5); dsh 0.1.0-rc.x is supported via legacy snapshot paths.
