Preface¶

In DeepSeek Harness (DSH), conversation history, context handoff, API costs, and history retrieval are typically scattered across different flows. DeepSeek Companion is an official companion plugin for DeepSeek Harness, consolidating conversation export, context handoff summaries, API cost optimization, and global conversation search into a single set of plugin modules.

Below, we cover capabilities, installation, usage, configuration, and notes. This plugin consists of four independent Cordis sub-plugins that can be enabled or disabled in any combination.

Core Features¶

Smart Conversation Export¶

Supports export to Markdown, PDF, JSON, and PNG long-image formats.
Supports turn-level selection for export, privacy redaction, and batch ZIP packaging.

Batch export supports up to 100 conversations per operation, with automatic deduplication.
PNG long-image export is available only in the client interface; the command palette has no canvas.

Context Handoff Summary¶

Supports generating a four-paragraph summary of no more than 500 characters.
Summaries can be edited, copied to the clipboard, and saved as templates.
Summaries can be imported as the first system message in a new conversation for context handoff.

API Cost Optimization¶

Supports official dynamic pricing, peak/off-peak time-of-use pricing, peak/off-peak automatic scheduling, intelligent model routing, daily/monthly dual-tier budgets, and cost reports.

Configuring a DeepSeek API Key is required before use. The API Key is encrypted at rest using AES-256-GCM; plaintext never appears in API responses, logs, or events. /cost/state returns only the apiKeyConfigured boolean.

Global Conversation Search¶

Supports filtering by keyword, time range, and custom tags.
Search results can be clicked to navigate directly to the conversation.

In-Conversation Search¶

Supports a floating search bar via Ctrl/Cmd+F.
Supports case sensitivity toggle, whole-word toggle, query history, and automatic re-synchronization with streaming output.

Installation and Activation¶

Prerequisites:

• DeepSeek Harness >= 0.1.0
• Node.js ^22.19 || >=24
• pnpm

One-click installation:

dsh plugin add beijingwahw/dsh-companion --profile web

Launch the plugin panel:

dsh web

Upgrade, uninstall, and local path installation:

dsh plugin upgrade dsh-companion --profile web
dsh plugin remove dsh-companion --profile web
dsh plugin add ./dsh-companion --profile web

Build and install from source:

Configure the DeepSeek API Key:

1. Open the plugin settings page and enable the “Developer Mode” master switch.
2. Paste and save the key in “API Key Management”.
3. You can click “Test Connection”.

Typical Usage¶

• Export a conversation: Click “Export” in the conversation header, or run the export command in the command palette.
• Batch export: Check “Batch Export” in the export dialog, and package selected/filtered conversations as a ZIP.
• Generate a handoff summary: Click “Handoff Summary” or use the handoff command.
• Import a historical summary: Click “Import Historical Summary” or use the handoff-import command.
• Global search: Use the search box at the top of the history conversation list or the search command; tags can be managed with the tag command.
• In-conversation search: Click “In-Conversation Search” or press Ctrl/Cmd+F.
• Cost reports: The usage command provides a quick text report for the current month within the panel.

Use Cases and Notes¶

Suitable for users who need to organize historical conversations in DSH, pass context from a previous round to a new conversation, control API budgets, and quickly locate old conversations.

The plugin runs with the permissions of the current dsh process; review the source code and license before installation. This repository is licensed under MIT.

Notes:

• Batch export supports up to 100 conversations per operation, with automatic deduplication.
• PNG long-image export is available only in the client interface; the command palette has no canvas.
• Development HMR requires Node >= 24.11; early 24.x versions such as 24.1.0 are incompatible with cordis-plugin-loader 1.0.2.
