Preface¶

When building multi-agent workflows in DeepSeek Harness (DSH), a common approach is to break tasks into multiple prompt segments or switch back and forth between several modes. If you need to cover product, engineering, quality, release, and marketing, manually maintaining these steps can become scattered.

dsh-virtual-product-team provides a Product Team Mode: starting from idea validation, it progresses stage by stage through release, marketing, and iteration, pausing for user approval after each stage. Below we cover what it is, what it can do, how to install and enable it, and the boundaries to keep in mind when using it.

What Is This¶

songoao25/dsh-virtual-product-team is a DSH conversation mode / agent preset, licensed under MIT © songoao25. The current package.json version in the repository is 1.3.0.

The problem it solves: after a user states a product idea, DSH follows a product team workflow to continue clarifying requirements, writing the PRD, performing technical design, implementation, QA/security audit, and preparing release materials. The user’s main responsibilities are conversation and approval.

Core Features¶

A Pipeline from Idea to Iteration¶

Product Team Mode covers 8 stages with a total of 12 phases:

5. Release & Deployment
6. Marketing & Cold Start
7. Operations & Growth
8. Iteration & Maintenance

Users can say something like:

I have an idea, I want to build XX

With this input, the AI will sequentially perform requirements clarification, PRD, technical design, implementation, QA/security audit, and release material preparation.

Stage Gating¶

This mode uses stage gating:

• Reports to the user after each stage ends.
• Only proceeds to the next stage after user approval.
• Users do not need to write code or have a technical background.
• The user’s main job is answering questions and making decisions.

Skill Pack & Extension Capabilities¶

Starting with v1.2.0, the repository declares a DSH bundle that can be installed as a skill pack for a profile.

Starting with v1.1.0, it can build new DSH modes and plugins when explicitly requested, using the self-modification toolset along with the official Cordis authoring skills. This toolset has shell-level trust and is only used when a DSH-specific product is explicitly requested.

Installation & Enablement¶

Full Installation¶

First, confirm that DSH is installed and dsh is on your PATH.

Then run:

cd dsh-virtual-product-team
./install.sh

After installation completes, you need to start a new conversation, select Product Team Mode from the mode picker, and then say:

I have an idea…

Note: DSH only allows mode switching in a blank conversation, so you must start a new conversation first and then select Product Team Mode.

Optional: Install Only the Skill Pack¶

If you only need to install the skill layer, use:

dsh plugin --profile <profile-name> add dsh-virtual-product-team

Replace <profile-name> with your actual profile name.

This only installs the skill layer; the preset, persona, and tools still come from:

./install.sh

Typical Usage¶

1. Start a new conversation.
2. Select Product Team Mode from the mode picker.
3. Enter:

I have an idea, I want to build XX

4. DSH will proceed through requirements clarification, PRD, technical design, implementation, QA/security audit, and release material preparation.
5. The user is briefed after each stage, and the next stage only begins after approval.

If it reaches the GitHub release stage, it will ask which local AI assistant to use, and that assistant will handle commit/tag/Release.

Uninstallation¶

Navigate to the repository directory and run:

cd dsh-virtual-product-team
./uninstall.sh

After uninstalling, new conversations will revert to the default mode. The documentation states that no residual files are left behind and other modes are unaffected.

Use Cases & Notes¶

Suitable for people who want to drive a product pipeline through conversation in DSH, especially those who want every stage—from idea, requirements, design, implementation, quality, release, marketing, to iteration—to be reported and approved stage by stage.

A few things to keep in mind before using:

• DSH plugins/modes run with the permissions of the current dsh process. Review the source code, scripts, and license before installing.
• v1 limitation: chat-only, no visual progress dashboard.
• The self-modification toolset has shell-level trust and is only used when building a DSH-specific product is explicitly requested.
• The bundle only installs the skill layer; the preset, persona, and tools still come from ./install.sh.
• Mode switching only happens in a blank conversation, so you need to start a new conversation first.
