Preface¶

The DSH (DeepSeek Harness) ecosystem emphasizes “everything is a plugin.” In actual deployments, the tool sets provided by different agent presets may vary. The minimal mode defaults to only bash and str_replace_editor. If you need to use web_search in the session tool directory, you must separately re-enable the host-side tool-web line.

Below we introduce dsh-web-search-all-modes, maintained by Enter3211. It solves a specific problem: enabling all dsh agent presets that do not natively include the web_search tool to also invoke it.

What This Is¶

dsh-web-search-all-modes is a DeepSeek Harness plugin (bundle) that restores the web_search tool to all dsh agent presets that lack it natively, by re-enabling the host’s tool-web line.

• Presets that already include web_search are unaffected.
• Registrations within scope override global registrations without duplication.
• Licensed under MIT.

Installation and Enablement¶

Before installation, verify the environmental requirements:

• The profile must be composed based on @deepseek-ai/dsh-base; all official profiles satisfy this.
• The same search credential DEEPSEEK_API_KEY as in standard mode is required, resolved by the host’s web-search-deepseek provider.
• The plugin runs within the current dsh process permissions. Review the source code and MIT license before installation.

Local source installation:

Install from GitHub without the pnpm build authorization prompt:

Restart the Web process after installation.

Typical Usage¶

After restarting the Web process, create a new session in minimal mode or any mode, and web_search will appear in the tool directory.

Note: The minimal preset fixes the persona to a full system prompt, so the tool guidance prompt section remains hidden in that mode; however, the web_search tool schema will still appear in the directory and function properly.

Applicable Scenarios and Notes¶

Suitable for the following cases:

• You use a dsh profile based on @deepseek-ai/dsh-base.
• You want web search available in minimal mode or other presets that do not natively include web_search.
• You have configured DEEPSEEK_API_KEY and confirmed that the host web-search-deepseek provider is operational.

Important considerations:

• The patch locates the tool-web line by ID.
• If the line does not exist in the composition (non-base deployment), the loader records a skip warning, and the plugin becomes a no-op overall.
• web_search triggers an independent model request.
• The base budget per search is 60 seconds.
• Default fetch: false, with web_fetch remaining disabled.
